The health directorate reported 1,950 new Covid-19 cases yesterday as the number of daily cases and the positivity rate increased slightly from the previous day.
The new cases were confirmed after 12,847 tests were conducted in 24 hours till 8:30am yesterday. The positivity rate stood at 15.18 percent, according to a press release from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In 24 hours till 8:30am on Friday, 1,929 new cases were found following 13,073 tests, putting the positivity rate at 14.76pc, shows DGHS data. It was the lowest for the last three months.
With the new cases, the total number reached 323,565, almost 20 percent of all tests conducted since January 21.
The authorities also reported 35 deaths yesterday, taking the official death toll to 4,447, which is 1.37 percent of all reported cases.
Ten of the victims were female. One of them died at home, the others at hospitals, shows DGHS data.
Three of the deceased were aged between 31 and 40, two between 41 and 50, five between 51 and 60. The rest 25 were over 60.
A total of 3,839 patients were admitted to the hospitals’ general section while 318 to ICUs in the Covid-19 dedicated hospitals across the country in the 24 hours, according to the DGHS press release.
As many as 1,661 Covid-19 patients recovered in the 24-hour period, taking the total number of recovery cases to 217,852, which is more than 67 percent of all reported cases.
